Chaps, to save me looking it up (I know, I'm taking the lazy way out) Does anyone know if there are equivalent requirements to the English / Welsh Building Regulation 38, in Scotland, Northern Ireland and The RoI? If there are, what are they known as?

Just skimmed through Scottish Building Regulations and the Technical Standards (General & Fire sections) and nothing vaguely similar jumps out.

Sea Fish there are similar requirements in the Scottish legislation. It was one of my recommendations to the Rosepark FAI with which Scottish gvt agreed.

From October 2013 regulation 41(bd) of the Building (Procedure) (Scotland) Regulations 2004 requires a fire safety design summary to be submitted with the completion certificate where it relates to the construction of, or conversion to, a new non-domestic building. For the purposes of these regulations a 'fire safety design summary' means information relating to the design and construction of the building, and the services, fittings and equipment provided in or in connection with the building, which will assist in the operation and maintenance of the building for fire safety purposes.

A new requirement for Fire Safety Design Summaries (FSDS) has been introduced in response to the Rosepark nursing home fire in North Lanarkshire. It seeks to learn from the England/Wales approach to fire safety information set out in the Fire Safety Order. Although the requirement does not appear in the Technical Handbooks, the 2013 revisions to the Building (Procedure) (Scotland) Regulations 2004 and the Building (Forms) (Scotland) Regulations 2005 mean this is now a requirement for obtaining a completion certificate, and is to be included in the handover documentation. It is essentially a document summarizing the fire safety strategy of a project, which can be difficult to ascertain after completion.

Seems a perfectly sensible requirement. It does not appear to be a requirement of NI Building Regs but Every project we do (mostly refurb of licensed premises) requires us to get a completion cert from Building Control for presentation in court. We have had to provide BC with a fairly comprehensive fire safety strategy document. The examples given on the gov.scot website would be pale in comparison.

Not NI but I believe from memory there might be a requirement in RoI.
It would be a good idea to have a fire safety file by statute for every relevant building. The number of times I have been to new buildings and nobody on site or managing it seems to know anything about whats going on. Seems to be a big secret.
