Blue Watch - The sign of a safer property

Hi peeps,

I've just been sent a load of bumph on this Blue Watch scheme from my boss, with a request to see if it is worth joining.

Having looked at the website and reading the paperwork it looks as if it is squarely aimed at the private sector. As I work for a Registered Provider (housing association) I'm not sure it fits with us, hence my coming to the fonts of fire knowledge! I note that you can self-declare that your properties are safer or get a validation from an FRS (or trusted partner) to say that it is! I wont go into the potential confilct of interest with the latter! :-)

Have any of you any dealings with the service, has anyone joined it and is it worth it?

As always any help greatfully received.

That'll be Capita who bought the Fire Service College from the Department for Communities and Local Government for £10 million and who also run Gas Safe, TV Licensing, Criminal Records Bureau, etc.

Some rather worrying stuff on there..

"What type of fire extinguisher should I buy?
There are two types of fire extinguisher for domestic use:

Water
Foam"

It then goes on to try and sell the person using the site a fire blanket (of which the site tells you very little) in the totally OTT 6' x 4' "monster" size

It also says you should buy CO alarms and get the fire brigade to fit it!

It's not the most informative site in the world...

Hmm - watching the video it seems like hawking for work - notice how he mentions that the assessments will be validated by the Fire and Rescue Services trading company

Its a gross conflict of interest typical of the FRS in this day and age, and no one should touch it.
