Do any other Fire Safety Officers get heavily involved in Caravan Sites?
I mean, giving advice to the local authority where they want to bend the guidlines in the model standards.
Do you stick ridgidly to the Model Standards bearing in mind that they are different for touring caravans and Static "Park Homes".
Or are you doing individual risk assesments and using the model standards as a guide only?
Where we deviate from the Model Standard our advice is written into the terms and conditions produced by the Council which may then be challenged in the courts by the site owner and may lead to a Fire Safety Officer being called as an expert witness to justify the councils decision.
I'm only asking because we get alot of involvment at this office, although at other offices I've worked at I've never been contacted by a Caravan Officer. :?
