Evac chairs have many drawbacks, not least the requirement for constant training of staff that may have to use them to evacuate less abled colleagues. You may think that selling lots of these chairs to unsuspecting employers is a good idea. However if you interpret legislation as requiring such chairs you will leave yourself open to legal action for misrepresentation. My learned friend Colin Todd hit the nail on the head when he advised that effective arrangements have to be put in place for the evacuation of all persons. Depending on the disability it may be as simple as a member of staff assisting a colleague to a place of safety.
I have seen lots of evac chairs gathering dust on the walls of offices and hospitals. Professional fire safety consultants will recommend the correct course of action not a sales person.
