Hope the firemen dont strike again.

Know they neede a payrise but they lost the support of the public - ashame as up until that point firefighters were held in high regard by their communities

Well somethings rumbling - this weeks I've noticed large movements of Green Godesses on low loaders around the country and a couple of convoys of older non brigade marked red fire engines and even a Rescue Tender.

Also it was on the radio that some of the troops finishing tours in Iraq are being hld for fire fighting deployment on their return

Looks like the Govt are expecting a strike.

anthony, i wont get into political rhetoric of whether the govt are expecting or actually organising/orchestrating one - (doh - just did!)

fire service college is now a military training camp (with armed guards - or are they just to stop the locals going swimming!), no seconded staff will be providing instruction so for those who may go to the college in the future give the staff there a bit of a break, they're also employees and our argument isnt with them!

so the green goddess movements are not just mirages, you can actually tell due to the fact that mirages do tend to travel a lot faster

ps lets hope that the fiasco of aug 2nd isnt repeated later this month, to stop that happening - VOTE YES

Hi Mr P

Slightly off topic.

But my last two replies to you (Re the itinerants in Pangbourne) in the Dinosaurs forum, were deleted by the thought police and the topic locked, so I tend not to post on these forums anymore.

Dear Dave,

It was myself who deleted the items, I did explain why and private message you about this.

I'm not the "thought police", but the site owner and myself agreed that Fire Net was not the place to discuss such issues.

I am sorry if you don't want to take part in the forum, but like I explained Fire Net is a public website and its content must not offend minority groups.

As always, feel free to private message me about this if you wish.

Regards,

Chris Houston.
