Sorry, didn't quite make myself clear.  I have followed the Prof's instructions, I've gone into internet explorers tools etc and deleated my cookies and I've just tried re-starting my laptop as you suggested but is hasn't made a difference???? I've remained logged in and still can't log out.

Cat;

I didn't know about this problem till you mentioned it, even me couldn't logout..., as I never tried to logout, since it's only me who use my laptop..., but I have just tried what Kurnal and Wiz said, and it worked perfectly, it prompted me for the first time to login sinceā€¦, which I have done, then pressed logout again and it worked perfectly

Just give a try again

Every day is a school day :)

Cat;
You'r probably right in one thing, you have to delete cookies each time you need to logout and not once for ever. but why it does that only in this forum?

I don't know! :/

Thanks benz.  I've just deleated my cookies and restarted my laptop as suggested and I've had to log back in finally but once I log in I can't log out again and I'm once again stuck at being logged in!!!

Maybe my purpose in life is to scour the far reaching corners of the firenet forum and seek out new information and knowledge :)

I think I will leave it for a bit and try again later today and see if it works because it obviously does.

Cat when you first registered you ticked a little box on the sign up screen that said "remember me" so the site has remembered you and places a little cookie on your PC every time you log in to save you entering your password next time.

I think you can amend this through your profile- or you could increase your security settings by not allowing cookies - (again through internet explorer- but some sites will not work unless cookies are enabled) or just delete your cookies on a regular basis. It keeps your pc nice and tidy anyway. You could also keep the clutter down by telling your machine to delete temporary internet fles on a daily or weekly basis.

Just another thought Cat - not automatically logging in would help you to slink into the bar and see who is there before we see you. And if the Hon sec is there you can slip away unseen before he starts talking about that operation and that nice vet again.

Thanks for your help kurnal.  I have removed the remember me so as you say I can slink into the bar and see if its safe or not.  Unfortunately I can't completely block cookies at the moment because some fire services are e-mailling me updates with regards to my applications so if I block cookies I don't get these updates.  Normally I do and I always clean up my disk drive every weekend along with scanning for viruses etc...  I was hit with a nasty virus earlier in the year, but I doubt that has anything to do with it.

If nothing else works I may have to call upon our dear Mr Houston for some help.  Why oh why does it always happen to me :/
