Title: Location of AVSU,s and Fire Control/Fire Damper Panels
Post by: Owen66 on December 09, 2005, 04:31:00 PM
Hi,

I am currently completing a final year design project as part of an undergradute degree in building services engineering.

I have decided to base the project on a healthcare building.

Having studied relevant documents such as HTM 2022 and Firecode, I have determined that the best locations for medical gas AVSU units would be at the entrance to a department as defined.

My view is that the AVSU should be positioned close to the department entrance but not within ie across the fire compartment line. In short on the street side of the fire compartment.

My lecturer and other team members take the view that these should be positioned within the department, either at a suitable point after the access doors or at the nurse base.

The same comments apply to to the Fire alarm CIE and fire damper/smoke control panels.

I would be obliged if members of this forum would be prepared to offer an opinion as to what constitutes best practice in this situation.

Thanks
