Moving from Airport to Local Authority

Looking for advice here. I'm a serving Airport Firefighter at a major UK airport, who is thinking of applying to join the Wholetime Local Authority. Any advice from anyone who has experience and knowledge of this? ie: Pro's and con's!

Good Luck. In my experience there are a few LA fire & Rescue Services who will look at your core skills and see that there are similar skills to firefighters in the LA. However very few of them exempt you from attending basic fireifighter courses at their own training establishments. I know of one exception where a L/F left from the Airport and joined a service in the central scotland region without having to complete a full basic course at Gullane. As I said Good Luck.

I'd stick to the airports! Or wait until local authority has finished with all their changes, nothings straight forward in the fire service anymore! They probably would expect you to do a basic daft as it is.

Some LA excpect you to put up a bounty to cover transfer expenses.
