Serious fire in centre of Exeter

(1/2) > >>

John Webb:
A serious fire has affected a number of buildings in Exeter - see https://www.dsfire.gov.uk/News/Newsdesk/IncidentDetail.cfm?IncidentID=38609&siteCategoryId=3&T1ID=26&T2ID=41. It started in the early hours of the 28th Oct, and spread to the adjacent Royal Clarence Hotel and other premises.

wee brian:
Seems to be some scaffolding on the front of the building. getting the builders in - always a risk!

John Webb:
The fire started in a building used as an art gallery and undergoing renovation work, hence the scaffolding - the fire started in the early hours of Friday and despite the best efforts of Devon and Somerset F&RS it spread to the adjacent hotel - there was also a couple of shops in the High Street behind the hotel affected.

Latest news yesterday from the BBC: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-devon-37812333 This has some interesting interior shots from the police drone that has been used. There is no recent update on the F&RS website.

Scaffolding? Oh Oh!

Dinnertime Dave:

Good indication of the size of the fire and resources used to fight it -
