Fire resistance period in ADBv2
« on: August 24, 2021, 04:07:59 PM »
Why is there no reduction in the fire resistance period for a sprinklered building? In the approved document table?   For a care home.

There other trade-offs in ADBv2
Sprinkler systems
2.46 When a sprinkler system is provided in accordance with Appendix E, the following variations to the guidance given in paragraphs 2.35 to 2.45 are acceptable.
a. Fire doorsets to bedrooms do not need to be fitted with self-closing devices.
b. Protected areas may contain more than 10 beds.
c. Bedrooms may contain more than one bed.
If any of the variations are made, the management procedures should take account of the larger number of residents that may need assistance, and the need to manually close bedroom doors during sleeping hours.

Although, imho, removing the SC devices is ill-advised?.

That kinda means the protected areas could be bigger, provided staff can evacuate them to an adjacent protected area.

I would avoid having more than 10 beds in a sub-compartment too.

My future son-in-law is Scottish. When he goes back to see his parents, he takes an empty suitcase and brings back square sausage, haggis, tablet, white pudding, Iron-bru in glass bottles. What?s that about?! 😳😂
