Has anyone got any (or know where I can get) reports on vehicle tunnel fires. I think the Fire Prevention etc Journal may have done a feature on this at some point.

This months IFE/FPA Journal has an article entitled Chain of Safety, re:the new EC directive on safety in road tunnels.
If you cannot get hold of a copy of it, send me a mail with your address, and I will send you a copy in the post.

Gary

Ah, perfect timing. I wil get this. None-the-less, any reports on any tunnel fires would still be appreciated.

There was a huge research project undertaken some years back when the Channel Tunnel's design and safety infrastructure were at the planning stage.
If I remember correctly, details from thousands of actual car fires were somehow modelled into a tunnel environment and the analysis of the results used to finalise the details of construction.
I am not sure who did it, by the tunnel owners (TML?) and/or Kent FB may be able to point you in the right direction

I think I have a copy of a report on tunnel fires based on research for the channel tunnel. I will try and dig it out at home tonight. If you let me have your address I can post it to you.
