Title: Siting of Fire Alarm Panel/Grade of System
Post by: Tadees on June 15, 2012, 06:29:55 PM
Small chemist on ground floor, stock room first floor and single flat on 2nd floor.  Existing building. No purpose group separation, but there is a reasonable degree of compartmentation in the sense that ceiling is plastered and there are no gaps for the passage of smoke. No common areas. Flat has independent means of escape.  Upgrading existing ceilings and walls to 60 min is impractical.

1. Any guidance document which will tell me where to site the panel.  If the alarm needs to be reset at night and the panel is sited in the chemist, it can't be reset?
2. LACORS does not mention the grade of system for such a premises.  Am I looking at the wrong document?
