Arson Task Force Information Officer, (initially, fixed term contract to March 2006)
£16,944 - £18,582 (pay award pending), starting salary dependent on qualifications and experience.

Bedfordshire and Luton Fire and Rescue Service has secured central Government Funding to allow the continuation and expansion of its successful Arson Task Force Project.  The Project, which has been running for the past three years within the Borough of Luton, has now been granted funding to cover all of the Luton and South Bedfordshire area.  It is expected that the funding will continue until at least March 2006, providing the project can continue to demonstrate worthwhile results.

A multi-agency Project Board, chaired by the Service’s Area Risk Manager and consisting of other officers from the Service, Bedfordshire Police, Luton Borough Council and South Bedfordshire District Council, manages the project. The Arson Task Force team is located within the organisational structure of the Fire and Rescue Service and the successful applicant will be based at the Service’s Southern Area Offices in Luton.

Working 37 hours per week, you will work with the two Arson Task Force Officers as the Arson Task Force Information Officer attached to the project.  The core purpose will be to provide information on which to base the arson reduction strategy for Luton.  The post holder will also be required to provide administrative support for the project.

Applicants must have a degree in a relevant discipline or have at least two years experience of working in a statistical research or data analysis capacity.  Experience and proven skills in the use of computer spreadsheets, word processing and databases is essential.

Applicants must also have the ability to communicate with a wide range of individuals and agencies and be able to work in a methodical manner without close supervision.

The ability to organise and maintain records in an efficient manner and work effectively to deadlines managing a number of tasks simultaneously will also be essential.
