Changes to Groundwater Regs and Water Resources Act
« on: April 04, 2008, 08:10:36 PM »
I understand there have been changes to the above, which essentially preclude the use of AFFF foam other than in actual fire-fighting. I am led to believe that the fines imposed for breach can be very heavy.

Can anyone point me in the direction of definate information, as most of what I've encountered appears to be hearsay, and some websites are less than helpfull.

Thanks.

Thanks for that, though if you encounter any other info I'd be interested.

The webpage does contain some areas concerning Buncefield which conflict with that presented at an IFE branch event I attended entitled 'Oil, Water, Foam and lots of it please' , the main subject of which was the Buncefield fire, presented by individuals some of whom were there.

The reality of the situation was that in their efforts to 'assist', some FRS's were offloading PFOS foam to the incident to save themselves the disposal issue.

In the event most (of the PFOS) was reportedly not used.

It would appear the site operator didn't buy it

Unless anyone else knows different

Thanks as ever
