Title: Tinsel!
Post by: SandDancer on December 09, 2014, 11:14:54 PM
Is there any spec on tinsel out there?  I have seen mixed advice, but from experience it doesn't propagate flame but produces thick smoke (dependant on age of the product agreed but modern? is there any conclusive tests done? searched the tintinet but can't find a fire testing result:( any thoughts?

Is this tinsel on it's own? Or on a tree? In the latter case I would have thought the tree to be the much higher risk/problem.

Probably depends where you get it from. There will be specs and testing for tinsel from theatrical set suppliers, but if you buy Lucky Golden Hedgehog Make Happy Home Festive Season Tonsil for 99p per mile you'll probably get whatever waste the local plastics factory has produced this week and coloured with phosphorous.
