Title: Fire Alarm system movement
Post by: mariner on April 18, 2013, 09:31:48 AM
I hope someone can help with the question in regards to the legal requirements in relation to ‘moving’  the following in regards to a fire alarm L1 system
Fireman’s Microphone,   5 Minute Delay (single or double knock), Central Controller Indicator,
Relocate the Existing Alert/ Evacuate Panel, New Touch Screen data-station.
The current location is ideal at the entrance of the building within a control room, however the new facility will be three floors located within the heart of the building, not ideal if we have a large incident.
Will there be a need for cause and effect testing the fire alarm system,
The building is mixed use with general public, scientists and a large degree of hazards.
Any help is appreciated

Sounds like an appliation for  a mimic panel with full functionality in the new facility and leave the main panel where it is? The fire service will want to see a panel at their access point. Fully functional mimic and graphic display panels are readily available such as Honeywell Winmag.

Is the proposed new position suitably safe for a control room  and the staff who will work there managing an emergency?
