Title: Residential Care Premise or Healthcare Premise

Can anyone point me in the direction of a definition between when a residential care premise becomes a healthcare premise as building regs apply to the first and HTM's apply to healthcare as well as building regs.

Residential care premises are for persons who need assistance because of age or infirmity.
Health care premises are for persons who are in care because of their health.
Health care persons need nursing care. Residential care persons don't.

OK so where is the residential care home with nursing?

Residential Care Home - Home whereby elderly need some form of general assistance by a carer (ie to get dressed or to be bathed because of general problems associated with old age such as arthritus) Generally carers arent medically qualified.

Nursing Home - As per residential care home but residents need to be given medication dispensed by qualified carer / nurse whom offer a higher frequency and standard of care. Carers / Nurses are medically qualified

Hopsice - As per nursing home but where generally residents are terminally ill and are made as comfortable as possible before passing away receiving whatever care is appropriate by medically qualified staff.
