http://www.powersystemsinternational.com/power-products/emergency-power-systems-for-evacuation-lifts-and-lighting/

"These purpose built systems are designed to supply power to emergency evacuation lifts and/ or emergency lighting fittings and exit signs when the mains power supply has failed. The units are intended for use in all types of public buildings including schools, libraries, hospitals, airports and offices."

I've just seen this via a link from the MoE publication - has anybody any experience with using this system and any comments?

BS 9999 cautions against the use of battery inverters as secondary supplies for evac lifts & the "ELPS 20" supply appears to use a non-automatic changeover, which is a significant non-compliance with BS 9999 (clause 38.2.3.3).  Why you'd use one of these instead of installing a fire protected secondary circuit is beyond me.
