For anyone interested, the ODPM is now called the Department for Communities and Local Government, DCLG in short.  A new expanded role for Ruth Kelly.  Am I the only one who thought there was too much work in ODPM for fire alone without additions.

Would the next step be perhaps to put "Fire" in the Buildings Division of Local Government.  Now there's a thought ....

Since they both found themselves in the same department - Fire and building have been moving further apart not closer together!!
