Title: Manual handling assessments on residents

I received this question the other day can anybody help. Could this be from the new guides.

Please could you point me in the right direction, I am writing up a report on manual handling assessments on residents in a nursing home and I have just been told that due to proposed legislative changes that assessment should include moving and handling assessment on individual residents in the event of a fire evacuation?
 
Is this true and if so were can I go for more information?

As far as I am aware, Hospital staff no longer move patients due to the manual handling problem and the risk of personal injury.  Much like that of Fire Brigade staff, the bad back syndrome.  Nursing homes are covered in the new guide for Residential Care premises and states the following, " In situations where residents of poor mobility are to be physically moved by staff, it must be ensured that the staff have received the appropriate training to do so. If evacuation aids or equipment is provided for this purpose, staff should be trained to deploy and utilise them as quickly and efficiently with as little distress to the resident as possible"

The new Healthcare guide states the same thing although in a different place.
