Can someone please guide me to what legislation / guidance is relevant & in force for temporary construction site accommodation for up to a maximum of 100 people, usually 40 people.

this could be a little complicated so lets look at it in stages.
First question must be is the site on which you are working classed as special premises under the Fire Certificates (Special Premises) Regulations 1976- typically nuclear installations, mines and quarries, large chemical storage sites etc?
Is it crown property?
If the answer is no things get a little easier.
If not what type of building project are you working on?
And whereabouts in the UK?

It is neither crown or special premises of the type was mentioned.
It is in Scotland and is a temporary building complex (portacabin type huts) which will house a building contractors staff and design team during the construction of a large civil engineering project.

In England the Construction health safety and Welfare Regs would apply - dunno if they apply in Scotland.

I.m not certain it works the same in Scotland, but in England both the Construction HSW Regs and the CDM Regs would apply. The CDM Regs identify key individuals in the planning and management of the project who are responsible for health and safety, whilst the Construction H&S regs set out the requirements in a fairly concise way.

The fire Authority is responsible for enforcement in most cases
The FPA used to do a really good guidance note but I have been unable to find a link.
