Title: fire safety for scouts
Post by: Andy Cole on June 16, 2006, 09:19:06 PM
Does anyone know of a set syllabus or even series of lesson plans to deliver to a scout group inorder for them to gain thier 'Fire Safety Badge'?

I have looked on the scout's website and taken all the information I can I was just wondering if anyone out there in the big wide world had knowledge of anything already in place/

Thanks

Is it not mentioned in their hand book??

Going back a few years I helped kids at my son's 'pack' get their FF badge and the details of what they were required to know was in their books. From that information it's easy enough to form your own syllabus/exam. I remember editing the "How to extinguish a tent fire" section from my talk (By the way the rather risky model answer was - by collapsing and stamping on it!!!???)

Good luck

Go to Chubb's web site at www.chubb.co.uk & navigate to the fire protection section - they have sponsored Scout fire safety training for some years now & put on courses for the scout units, with badges & certificates etc

Thanks for the link, just what I was after!

I've seen the book and have made up a series of 'lessons' for them vaguely based on it but your right there are some fairly dodgy ideas in it!

Thanks again!
