Rob, all itop's and adc's are based around the relevant PQA's for the role you are applying for, read the PQA's, read them well and think about the type of person that they are looking for.
The thing to do is be yourself as well as the person they are looking for. (that probably sounds daft but trust me it works)  If you are unsuccesful, make sure you don't spit out your dummy, get as much feedback as you can about where you were strong and where you were weak in relation to the PQA's. I did exactly that after failing it the first time and the next time round I got the highest score of the whole ADC.

Kaiser is right, i did the same thing. learnt the PQA's back to front after failing first time and passed with flying colours when I went to the next one.
The assessors could see what I was doing but as long as you hit the PQA there is nothing they could do.
Learn the PQA's inside out and you will sail through.
