Title: Radio fire alarms as temporary cover
Post by: AnthonyB on January 14, 2007, 11:58:33 AM
Is it feasible to use radio linked fire alarm systems as a temporary installation for premises needing full fire alarm cover during major works that will render their existing alarm non functional until replacement is complete?

The system being replaced covers a large area and thus the works will take several weeks.

If it is feasible in theory, is it achievable in practice, i.e. can radio alarm equipment be rented?

There are other solutions to loss of cover, but it sudddenly struck me as a possible suitable alternative less reliant on staff than other methods

Dear Anthony,
Can be done - I am aware of various museums and heritage buildings who have done this during works. I do believe it is possible to hire, but am not certain who to ask.

Anthony, yes it can be done.  The wireless fire alarm company will have to carry out a survey to ensure that they can get the correct coverage.  Try EMS Fire Alarms.
