To save me trawling through paperwork, can anyone tell me what the major differences are (if any) between the English/Welsh regs and the Scottish regs?
Thanks
Ashley

Ashley
If you check down the "Guides and Legislation " section of the forum, there is a post there that one of the members started re this subject

Ashley, probably the first difference is the title, there is no such thing as the RR(FS)O Scotland, it is the Fire (Scotland) Act 2005 and the Fire Safety (Scotland) Regualtions 2006.

got that last submission submitted too early!
Second difference the Scottish legislation has removed 'Crown Immunity' (both the Act and the Regs apply to the Crown).
Apart from that I think the two are intended to be very similar

http://www.infoscotland.com/firelaw/files/legislation-overview.htm will give you an overview of the Act, and http://www.opsi.gov.uk/legislation/scotland/ssi2006/20060456.htm will get you a copy of the Regs
Hope this helps

And Scotland has a much nicer definition of domestic premises. It includes the comon parts and avoids a legislative overlap with housing law.

The guidance in scotland (& Northern Ireland, whose draft appears based on the Scottish Regs not the England & Wales ones) appears not to use the term or require a nominated 'responsible person' and simply defines who is required to comply
-
Do either of these apply to Southern Ireland?

No, they develop their own legislation in response to European directives, like any other independent country. This site might help: www.irlgov.ie
