I am in the process of renevating a 2 storey grade 2 listed cottage and adding an extension. clearly everthing needs to be in keeping but I can't find any solution to a fire door which is traditional oak ledged and brace door.

Can anyone advise of any solutions ?

I can possibly help you if you're looking for a framed ledged and braced door, but just ledged and braced could be a problem.

Normally 2 storey properties do not require fire doors, unless it is the door into an attached garage. Which does not sound likely in a listed cottage! Try speaking to your local Building Control Dept at the Council.
Good luck. Jim

Mr P...[ the new one]!
Why do you need to upgrade doors............I don't think  this is necessary......however try looking up the TRADA documents relating to upgrading existing doors to 30mins FR.
Not convinced its needed.
