Title: Switchboard CO2 Injection Points

I am the Chief Engineer on a 52m Motor Yacht. Previous commercial vessels I have worked on have been equipped with a foil sealed bayonet type connection CO2 injection points on the main switchboard door panels. The engineroom CO2 fire extinguishers where equipped with a detachable cone which had a similiar bayonet fitting allow CO2 to be injected into a panel without the need to open it.

I would like to install these onboard my current vessel but have been unable as yet to find a supplier of either the points or a suitable extinguisher.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Been trying to find these for ages without success, Chubb make the only one I know about, good luck trying to get anything from Chubb!  (We service them on Navy Patrol Boats).   On commercial craft we use hydraulic bayonet fittings as CO2 pressure is no prob for these, only downside is that the bayonets are self sealing until connected so the extinguisher cannot be used for other fires.

Thanks John. I will try Chubb, you never know I might get lucky! I did manage to get an FB5X out of them 4 months ago to replace the foam branch we had onboard when I joined (the existing unit was made by a company called SMEG!)

You were right John.

Chubb Fire limited have just supplied me with a quote for the CO2 injection points and an adapted hose for use on the CO2 fire extinguisher closest to our main switchboard.

Looking at the yachting industry as a whole a significant amount of the fires onboard do seem to start in electrical panels and it only seems sensible to be prepared for it!

I would be interested in the specifics- Cost and how easy to get from Chubb?
Also have they supplied you as an end user or a trade customer? and do you have a part no.  or spec sheet etc???
