Hi all,

I am new to this forum and would like to ask if someone could tell me if call point alarms are mandatory in the workplace,
thanks in advance for any replies,

It depends on the size and nature of the workplace.
In some small workplaces a shout of fire may be ok, or a manual sounder such as a rotary gong. If there is one exit and the gong can be heard throughout the building over and above any ambient noise levels, and all occupants are able to hear well, then this will suffice. The free guidance documents on the www.communities.gov website cover this subject quite well.
