Does anyone know what the new Job Related Tests are exactly and whether they now replace the 'old' fitness tests (i.e. Shuttle run and Chester step test)? I have looked on a few websites but can't find anything in much detail...
Is it also right that not all brigades are using these tests yet and those that are may vary them?
Any info gratefully received!

I recently did the new style recruitment.
The physical test consists of the chester step test, instead of shuttle runs, and a equiptment carry etc.
When i find out more i will tell you.

The new physical test includes the following;
30 meter drag of a dummy;
the rural challenge - carrying item's of equipment such as x2 lengths of 70mm, length of suction hose and basket and strainer, then weights. - there are sprints in between this for which must all be completed within 7 mins over a 100 meter run for each.
cage crawl with face mask;
ladder climb, taking a leg lock and reading numbers of the ground;
assembly of equipment. I believe it is the old black hawk equipment.
15 kg lift, to simulate lifting the 13.5 ladder onto the back of an appliance.
All this is done over 4 hours with breaks between.
Hope this helps.

Cheers for your help guys, I've got it on Tuesday so I'll let you know what I did!!

Andy, trust me this is the new test and should be standard across the country now.
I take it you are going to the GMC testing off Thompson Street as they are running testing this coming week, Mon thru Thurs.
Good luck, you'll be ok if you have a reasonable standard of fitness.
Cheers
Paul.
