Title: From the start
Post by: Harry07 on September 25, 2007, 10:34:58 AM
Hello ha,

A bit about me, have spent the last three and a half years doing plumbing and domestic gas work. Before that, four and a half years as a junior engineer in the RN. And am 27 now.

I know time in the forces dosent give you a leg up. But wonderd if there was anyone out there who had the same sort of situation and found it benifical, either that or the plumbing?

I'm going to download the application to west yorkshire fire service on the 1st oct. so fingers crossed! has anyone any good advice on how best to get the ball rolling and make a good imprettion?? and roughly how long does it take to get your reply?

cheers, Harry.

boring question i know, but any advice on anything at the moment very welcome..

Its all PQA's now,so make sure you download the relevant guidance.Your spell in th RN should be able to give you some examples, but they may be a bit dated.

Harry, if you want I can send you the questions they ask on the application form. Helped enough people fill them in over the past few years. Just send me an email, should be able to do it by clicking on my profile.

Wotcha Harry

Being ex royal navy should hopefully stand you in good stead particularly as I understand you guys and girls got trained in advanced firefighting at sea. Not only that you were part of a uniformed and disciplined service. It does score some points.

As the other posters have said lots of PQAs to go through these days. Private message me if you want some examples rather than me ramble on here.

Cheers
