Title: Monthly Foam Test or Not ??
Post by: gerrymac on November 04, 2007, 08:56:12 PM
Does anyone know of any legislation / regulation pertaining to monthly foam output tests? The Fire Service Manual (the old TB 1/94) gives pump test frequency as a minimum of a quarterly test and inspection. How does this relate to Airport pumps which are only centrifugal pumps? Is the monthly test we carry out purely a spot test to confirm everything works ok?
Thanks for any info.

Hi Gerry

Our airport pumps are tested on a daily, fortnightly, monthly and quarterly basis.

I am unsure if this is a CAP 168 requirement or a company/manufacturer stipulation. I will try to find out tho!

Fireguy; did I understand that right that you produce foam from every pump every day?

No Chunty,

We carry out water pump tests each shift to ensure all is correct with deliveries, and produce foam on a monthly and quarterly basis for proportioning purposes.
