I have applied to Cheshire FB and am waiting to hear back from them, also thinking of applying to GMC or Merseyside, can anyone tell me what conditions, ie shift patterns are like and how staff morale is in these brigades.
Would be grateful for any feedback

A friend of mine who transferred into my Brigade was a Firefighter in Greater Manchester. He left because of bad morale and politics. Hope this helps in some way?

Staff morale among new starters should eb fantastic, when joining it would be the very last thing on my mind. If it was in my thoughts then I would probably be unsuitable for the job and should be looking elsewhere.

Why would asking this question make me usuitable for the job? If I was offered a post with any of thses brigades I would jump at the chance, the fact that I'm from Glasgow and prepared to apply to brigades in England surely shows my commitment to getting into the service.
It's the sort of question that I would ask if I was considering joining any other employer, as I've heard a few things about beds being replaced by recliner chairs, changes to shift systems etc, etc.

I cant see anything wrong with asking about morale, after all nobody wants to work where morale is through the floor but bit worried that your worried about the beds & shift pattern changes. Wouldn't look good for a new starter!

I can see what your getting at and in that sense I would agree with what you've said and with whats previousley been posted, which is why I would ask it here on a forum and not at a final interview, also its not a major concern it's just simply curiosity. that's all.
