Filled one in 3 weeks ago still nothing, have been checking the website everyday they still havent put a closing date on it yet. A few of my mates have also applied with paper forms and online they havent heard anything either. I did email SFR to ask about written tests etc but they told me they had no dates arranged (2 weeks ago). Bit of a poor show in my opinion doubt we will hear anything till they put a closing date on it.
I know the recruitment proccess is a long and arduous one especially when SFR usually recieve in excess of 4000 applications but it would be nice to be kept informed.

How did you find the questions?
-
I was able to answer them okay but every example i had was from work. I do think the questions are a wee bit extreme though, I have done a form with these questions before and not got passed the application stage I never got any feedback so I dont know the reasons for that but my answers are a bit different this time. How did you find them?
-
OK. But after i submited my form i noticed 1 of the answers was jumbled up, when i asked by e-mail if i could rectify it, i was told once the forms in you can't change it. So will just have to wait and see what happens. But anyway good luck mate.

Submitted an online application on the 10th of march still not heard anything though a friend of a friend who apperently applied around the same time as me has already been for written tests have double checked all my emails and still not heard anything just wondered if anyone else has heard anything?
-
Hi I recently applied for SFR aswell and was told the recruitment campaign would close on may 2nd then you would hear back from them sometime after then I rekon the written test wont be till the end of june sometime. Have any of applied for the SFr before and Have any idea what the new written test is like and how to study for it
-
Go to their recruitment website and their is a guide to ability tests on their, just take a read through that. If you took part in the written tests with lothian and borders last year then they are quite similar to them.
-
Have anyone heard from SFR? I applied in May and have yet to hear. A friend of a friend applied and he received a rejection email over a month ago.
Cheers.

I got a rejection email last month aswell, if you applied after the 2nd of may your application won't be considered until the 2009 intake. Best of luck mate
-
Sorry to hear that... did they give you any feedback on your application?
I meant to say, I applied in April before the May deadline.
Cheers.
-
I've still not heard anything yet, i also applied in April.
-
Won't be able to request feedback until 23rd of june, I would advise you to log on to your application page at www.couldyoubeafirefighter.org. and check your emails from there as the rejection email I recieved did not come from the strathclyde web address. The reason I say this is because i believed I hadn't been contacted as I had been checking my ISP inbox everyday and never recieved anything there, so check there and if you still havent heard anything you could be in with a shout as I have heard the majority, if not all rejection letters have been sent out.
-
I applied sometime in April - not heard anything as yet. Quite a few people I know all recieved rejection e-mails recently. Can anyone tell me if they recieved the e-mail to their home e-mail address or if it was on the website log in?

The above post answers your question
-
Yeah cheers for that Ally, I had read your post. All the people I have spoke with recieved them to their home e-mail address's. Was just looking to hear if anyone had heard or recieved anything different.
Does anyone know of anyone who has had word to go for a written test yet?
-
written tests were on 18th and 19th June. The physical tests are on 26th and 27th July.
-
Cheers for the information hl7.
Murray & dv7460 any news yet? I have e-mailed Strathclyde - also left a message on the recruitment hotline this morning.
I have a friend who is yet to hear back also, she called them a couple of weeks back & they told her because of the high volume of applications they had recieved it would take time to get back to them all.
-
No mate still nothing.
-
Got an e-mail from SFR today saying they still haven't got through all the applications yet as the demand was so high.
-
Hi Rossco, have you had any word yet? I'm still waiting.
-
received an e-mail today from SRF saying i will receive a response shortly.
-
Hi, I'm new to this forum but undertaking the application process with Strathclyde just now. The last medicals for the current intake are at the start of September so i can only imagine theyre going to wait to see how many they put through before they start the process again.
good luck with your apps

Hi everyone I’m new to the convo,
I applied for the first time back in Feb 08. I received a rejection letter about two months ago and was told they would be able to give me feedback 01/07/08, but still waiting.
I was wondering if any of you who got through to the next stage would mind emailing me a copy of your app just to compare and see how far of I was and how long have you been training?
Cheers
Johnny

Received an e-mail today, written test on 21/22 August, anyone else get one?
-
Thats great news Murray. http://www.hantsfire.gov.uk/nfst-psychometric-ability-practice-booklet.pdf, if you can answer these questions then you'll be fine. Its pretty easy going, its just remembering to double check your answers and take your time.
Had my interview yesterday they dont give much away, so its just a waiting game now. Its all PQA based so dont neglect them cos you never know with SFR how quick (or slow) their going to take things.
Good luck
-
Thanks for that, and good luck. Were all your tests held on week days? Do you have a starting date if all goes well?
-
Murray,
written tests and interviews are weekdays and the physicals are at weekends.
After interview you need to complete a medical, including chester step, and if you pass that then you need to wait on references and CRB check.
In relation to a starting date it depends on how many recruits they are taking on and how many pass all the processes. The interview is scored and the highest scorers get offered the places. The others go into a pool for future vacancies.
Good luck

i have just started a new job and don't want to ask for to much time off. I'll have to sort something out. Thanks for the info.
