As an industrial firemen one of our buildings is quite a drive away from the fire station.  It currently has a five minute Evac time.  The company has concerns to the fact that we might not get there before the the evac time.  Somebody has done a FRA and the company is about to put the Evac to eight minutes in that plant only.   Can the company do this without consulting the LFB?

All other plants on the estate have a five minute Evac.

Forgive me if I am misunderstanding something here but...

If they evacute the building, and you arrive 3 minutes later, then where is the problem? Everyone is out, you are free to go and do your job... ?

Provided they have based theiir decisions on a realistic calculation of available safe evacuation time and the 8 minutes is well inside the time that the building will remain tenable in a fire there should not be a problem. But it would be quite unusual for an individual building to be extended as far as this. For a site evacuation it may be quite normal.
