Title: Voice Alarms

I am trying to find out the requirement for voice alarms in public buildings, I know that this was in the old yellow guide but this has been revoked, have also looked in the rro guide and no mention. I am looking at a covered market area and whether it should be fitted

Surely, in these types of premises you would want a staff alert system not a "sounding alarm".  Most people are visitors and would not know where the escape routes are or where they lead to.  Therefore a silent staff alarm would be more suitable and the staff can then lead visitors away.  BS 5588 part 6 is for assembly premises and there is only mention of the above in  there.
