Hi guys,
My name is Cam kenyon and I registered to this forum as it is somewhere I can meet other Airport FireFighters or people wanting to become FF's. I am currently a Senior Fire fighter at the Christchurch International Airport, which is in the South Island of New Zealand, I have been here for approx 4 years now, current to that i did 13 years in the NZ Army as a FF. I had my own shift and got to the rank of Sergeant before i resigned from there. On my days off i am a Station officer at the Rolleston Volunteer Fire Brigade.
If you want to check out my work place look at www.airportfireservice.co.nz any questions about the way we do things in new Zealand, dont be shy..
Cheers and thanks for your time

We do the bird scaring on the airfield in conjunction with the wildlife officer. Mostly after hours and weekends or anytime that she is away..

Same story for me here in the UK, I hold a firearms licence and weapon for bird scaring.
Mind you getting the licence wasn't exactly an easy process; more hoops to jump through than a perfoming dog.

Yes my mate at the local airport RFFS told me that obtaining the firearms license was harder than his basic training course!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That said he can scare off Rooks, ravens and crows from 300 paces
