How do....
As the title says, anyone heard from Herts re thier recent recruit campaign?
I did call them last week and they advised that the 'sift' is still being 'sifted', but as I say that was last week.
I ask because the written tests are being held the w/c 10th March, so not long at all.

Hi
I am new to this forum but to answer your question I am also waiting to hear as well
Seems to take ages but i do know that apparently there has been over 700 applicants
Let me know when you hear and I will likewise. Fingers crossed Good luck
-
I certainly will.
I'm not holding out much hope now, according to HR (verbally) AND the recruitment 'timetable' the written tests were due to start this coming week 10th March.
I'm guessing if we haven't heard by now, it's no thanks.
Onwards and upwards.

I have been talking to soapy on another forum who works for herts, he just said that its taking longer then normal as the online applications have been a bit of a disaster, its first time they have done it this way, so keep fingers crossed.

Keep fingers crossed for both of you guys, how did you find the 6 main questions in the form? Ive only done this form once b4 and I didnt get past the app stage, that was for avon F&RS but think that was because it was rushed and untidy (my own fault I know for not being organised enough) but am applying to Strathclyde and would appreciate any help that anyone could give me. As for the proccess over running that doesnt surprise me believe it or not its not that uncommon. I applied to GMC last year and they had to cancel my application because they were so overwhelmed with applicants and one more point 700 IS NOT a high number of applicants strange as that may sound, even though it's a county brigade.
Anyway guys keep us posted and good luck and any feedback you could give would be grately appreciated RE app form as I have been trying to get in to various brigades over that the last 4 years, getting to different stages of the proccess each time but just wonder if its time to give this dream up and concentrate on something else instead of chasing something that might well not happen.
Cheers anyway and once again good luck, hope you get in.

I'm not sure if I am the best person to ask re pqa's, but I'll do my best to enlighten you on what I did etc.
Basically, they are looking for evidence about YOU, under the six main pqa's (equality and diversity, Working with people of different ages backgrounds or gender etc etc) and they are looking for examples of what YOU did, why YOU did it, and what happended as a result etc. Now, remember to base each question on examples within the last three years, try and mix up your answers with examples from current/previous employment and your life outside of work (eg can you relate any of the pqa's to something you have done whilst waiting for a bus, being a member of a football/basketball/rugby team - basically anything you can provide a good example from). Also, most frs applications have a 150 word limit, so do a count up at the end, and trim if necessary. You must get your spelling right, and they will be looking for decent grammar too. I dont really know what else to say, but I am sure others will offer good advice.
Shortly before the closing date for Herts I got a call from thier HR asking me if I was going to submit my application as they were having issues with the online applications. She e-mailed me an application and told me that they'd extend the closing date due to these issues. I asked her if it was worth my while applying as I am from Essex and their current campaign had a preference from those with Hertfordshire postcodes only. She advised me that it was worth my while. The rest is history, I completed the e-mailed application and e-mailed it back to her AND sent the original in the post. I know they got it as I called them a few days later, and she confirmed it was there. She also told me that the writtens would commence 10th March.....tomorrow.
This is even more important to me as I was meant to take my written test for BAA at Pease Pottage recently, but ended up not going as I could not find the paper part of my driving licence. I contacted BAA HR and almost pleaded with them to allow me to attend, but they would not have it. I was very optimistic about BAA too, despite the written test being tough. In addition, I also didn't make the sift from the recent Essex FRS campaign......despite already being RDS in Essex???
So, I have my eye on LFB too, and will not stop until someone takes me on. I will be 39 years old in 19 days, so time is not really on my side anymore. I haven't quite given up hope on Herts, but I am being realistic about it, we'll see.
Good luck to all.

Well I will be giving HQ a ring tom to find out the crack, getting slightly miffed at waiting now, but still keep fingers crossed. I have been in RFS for 13 years now tried numerous brigades but always hit brick walls, Current modernisation still not up to speed, only when it suits the big wigs. Good luck given to all

cheers for that carefree submitted my app for SFR this evening so the long wait now begins. Can see the relevance in the PQA's Diversity, Teamwork etc, just think the questions are laid out a bit strange my own opinion of course but its a national standard form now, at least if it is unsuccessful they will be able to give in-depth written feedback which may help in the future.

If its any consolation I too got the dreaded 'thanks but no thanks' letter yesterday. I'm not acutally that suprised as I am from Essex and they clearly stated that they would give 'preference to Hertforshire postcodes only', so I was up against it from the moment I started the application.
Nothing ventured nothing gained as they say.
Bring on the next one.
