Title: Laser measuring devices - Any good??

I am considering buying a laser measuring device similar to this: http://www.tooled-up.com/Product.asp?PID=138506 to assist when measuring travel distances and plan drawing etc.

As I have absolutely no experience of using one, does anyone already use one and if so, are they any good??

If allowed under the rules of this forum, can you point me towards a reliable model with a 60m (ish) range for under £150

There not bad , the old estate agents seem to get away with them , this link looks good , I would stay away from the cheaper end of the market , what I would also do as belt and braces , get the old surveying rotating wheel , used for cable runs , they are quite small and fold up so they are easy to cart around , i got one from a company called Marks*en(what you would call a sharp shooter) , as to not break any rules  on this  forum and it was under £20 , you cant go wrong , and there is no batteries !

I got a Bosch DLE50 Pro. Great tool and around £120. Simple to operate.
Also got folding wheel on ebay for £12.  Pretty good as well.

Messy

I have two.
A Disto made by Leica £300 ish and a smaller one made by Bosch  £120ish.
The trouble with the Bosch is that it uses many red laser spots to calculate, and if the wall you are pointing at isn't straight etc it can get confused. Dead simple to use as nearlythere says and can calculate for you.
The Leica is the better bet for frequent use, it uses only three spots making it easier to aim.

Dont waste your money on a cheap one. I have bought two sub £30 and both are a waste of time. Has to be absolutely perpendicular to the horizon and every reading is different.

i have just bought a cheap one from ebay, £12.00 and it works fine up to 12 metres it depends on what you really need it for
