Title: Sp203
Post by: Rosjes on July 22, 2008, 10:05:32 PM
I am interested in general feedback on the subject of BAFE SP203 approval for a small fire alarm company, eg.
1) Do you need iso9001?
2) What are the cost implications?
3) How easy/difficult is it to achieve?
Thanks

1) No you don't need ISO9001, only if you want "SP203 Gold" rather than Silver
2) The costs I think are reasonable, especially when we looked at LPC approval and were looking at the best part of £20k. Get a quote from the NSI but I think it was a £2-3k to set up and an on going £1500 (ish) for bi-annual inspections. Plus cost of certificates....
3) If you do the job right its easy to achieve !

Thanks for that David. Have you (or anyone else) noticed any benefit to your business since achieving accreditation? Does the fact that the scheme is modular make approval any easier? Lastly, do you think SP203 is the best way to prove competency?
