Title: Gent - Silence Alarms - "not allowed"
Post by: misterag on August 06, 2008, 08:26:03 PM
I've been looking at a recently installed Gent Vigilon. Was working fine, but for some reason (customer interaction?) the "Silence Alarms" button now has a delay built in.
Activating a device sounds alarms as normal - but then pressing the "Silence Alarms" button on the panel brings up the message "Not Allowed" for approx three minutes before "doing what it says on the tin".
Accessing "Silence Alarms" via the control menu works fine (i.e. immediately).
This looks like some kind of verification delay - but I cannot find a way of confirming this and/or disabling it via the menus.
Can anyone offer a pointer?

ta.

I'm purely guessing here, but could you be at a repeater panel, instead of the main facp??  Maybe the buttons on the panel you are at are disabled to stop malicious alarms.

Probably completely wrong!!!!

Cheers Jonny.. but nah! Main panel, strange (unexplained change) deviation from normal operation.

You may need a higher access level to be able to change the config.

Hi There,

The silence alarm button cannot be programmed to do anything like this. There is a seperate button for verification. The silence alarm button should still work though in any fire condition as it is the silence alarm that stops delay block countdowns and also stops and sector actions that are in the sound alarms button configuration.

I would suggest you may have an issue with the LCC card or MCC card depending on the software version.

The other thing it may be is user error the message "Not Allowed Whilst Sounders Are On" can sometimes appear when Reset is pressed before anything else.

Hope this helps. Give me a shout if you need anything else.

Thanks all

I got around this problem in the end by a full reset - Reset Card 0

No idea why it arose in the first place, but I suspect Ark Angel's diagnosis of dodgy MCC card is probably correct.

Just waiting for it to re-appear now!
