Title: Domestic Sprinkler Testing
Post by: jakespop on October 14, 2008, 09:57:30 PM
I have a client who has a domestic sprinkler system and is asking if there are specific tests required for them. The installer told him to occasionally check the pressure gauge  but there was no mention of any periodic maintenance. Is there any British Standard guidance?

Annual inspection and test by competent person-

1-heads ok and not impeded,
2-flow rate tested for 1 minute at drain and test valve,
3- audible alarm alarm remains effective and audible throughout
4- no unauthorised modifications to system.
5- Visual test for leaks.
6- Stop valve exercised.
7- If trace heating provided check operation.
8- Alarm panel battery and power supply.
9- complete log book.
