Title: Staged alarms and enhanced cabling... quick Q....
Post by: David Rooney on October 16, 2008, 01:17:23 PM
Staged fire alarm system - zone of origin = evacuate all other zones = pulse

After a delay of eg 5 minutes all sounders go to evacuate.

Is this in itself a reason for using enhanced cables ??

Doesn't BS only recommend it when there are four or more evacuation stages?

This is all set out quite clearly in BS 5839-1.

That is the appropriate answer applicable for many technical questions on Firenet.

But some posters seek reassurance, others maybe don't refer to the BS, and a few just like to argue that they disagree with BS!

They all make life more interesting or frustrating than it might otherwise be ;)

Sorry, Wiz, I erroneously thought that professional duty of care was to read appropriate codes of practice, rather than asking someone down the pub. There are lots of legitimate areas for debate, assistance and interpretation. It's just that this wasn't one of them.

Well pardon me for asking ....

Perhaps I should have bought the guide ... god which one are we up to now ??

"No" would have been far simpler.......  :)

As we all are told on a regular basis , BS are recommendations , so it appears that we are being recommended to read them .
So for some good bedtime reading I am recommending that recommendations are read.
