The last time I heard about its application in underground London, it wasn't really successful!

The problem I believe was the difficulty of pattern recognition in the circumstances in question. But the technique has been established for some years and has been recognized by in BS 5839-1 since 2002.

You said it's in BS5839 part 1! in what page?  I have checked the print out of 2002, but didn't find any?

Thanks Buzz, Found it, it's rather an introduction mentioning VSD detection, with a simple paragraph…, I thought a full standard has been set up since!...
