Post by: Davo on November 25, 2008, 03:41:10 PM
Advice please

Three inner rooms, 97 sq m, 80 sq m and 30 sq m
One gas store 8 sq m

1) how many cylinders are likely
2) will there be a need for external blast vents as on another site with FM200

There is always a need for pressure release vents with inergen. It works by pushing enough air from the room out of the vent and replacing it with a the inergen mix to bring the oxygen concentration below that which will support combustion.

You could do your sums- inergen cyls are charged to 300 Bar! The cylinders must not be in the protected room- how many seperate installations are you having?

Davo- this is a guide only. The systems will need to be calculated.

Inergen comes in a range of cylinder sizes. 27, 40, 67, 80 litres.

The typical volume covered  at 51% concentration is  16, 23, 39, 47 cubic metres respectively. The big 80 litre cylinders are 1760mm high and 267mm diameter.

Don't forget to alow for the weight of the cylinders and make sure that the contractor secures the pipes well. Also, you can't just vent pressure into the corridors or another room.
