Title: Fire Insurance Wall Plaques for sale
Post by: Chris Houston on December 06, 2008, 01:28:36 PM
Ladies and Gents,

As some of you may know, I will soon be relocating to work overseas.  I am therefore in the process of selling my life in ebay.  Items for sale include 2 fire insurance wall plaques.  They are lead, and possibly reproductions, I'm not sure.  Anway, I have permission from the site admin to post this advert.  Please note that a percentage of the sale goes to the Children's Fire and Burn Trust.

I'll be working in Papua New Guinea, doing logistics for Médecins Sans Frontières, departing 3rd January for 9 months.

(My FireNet role will be unaffected, although I may be online less often and more reliant on members using the "report" function.)

Good experience Chris, I like traveling and working in different environments too, the weather out there may exceed 45 degrees Celsius in summer time,… etc, I have friend of mine, a French Doctor who used to work for ‘Medecin sans Frontiere’ for many years, it’s a good money and interesting experience too…,

Benz,

Both medics and non medics are essentially volunteers, with costs paid and a small indemnity payment.

Good luck Chris. Just dont forget to leave us the key to all those poor padlocked threads whilst you are gone so we can nurture them. Or they will be imprisoned and fester forever.  Even the most despotic dictators declare an amnesty when theres something to celebrate.

I have been contacted by a "connoisseur on British fire marks" who advises me that this item is a replica, not an original.  He states "None of their fire marks were issued in lead, only copper, brass, tinned iron and enamel."

the MSF work Chris.

MSF volunteers are always where the need is great and their contribution invaluable.

as for the very moderate Firenet site all the wonderfully behaved correspondents hardly need a guiding hand!
