Title: GENT Radio fire alarm interfacing

Gent by Honeywell, are to release in the New Year their version of a wireless to wired radio system.

An interface will sit on the Vigilon loop (hardwired) and will communicate with wireless field devices.  The devices at this stage will be conventional wireless devices, therefore the panel will see the activation as a 'zone' rather than an individual detector.

The analogue addressable version will be released later in 2009

Looks like they are jumping on the band wagon like other manufacturers.

sounds like the Hyfire under another name.

A similar sort of thing, but the GENT product is solely manufactured by Gent, where as the Hyfire product is manufactured by Argus security, and bolted onto another manufacturers panel.

I'm sure the GENT system will be seamless, it's always worrying when one manufacturer creates something to work on another manufacturers system.

can't understand how the Hyfire is being marketed as a "totally wire free system"...

you have to wire the transponders into a loop and also any expander's that are required.so hardly "wire free" is it?

Translators require wiring onto the loop, the expanders do not, they just require a 24V feed, they are just a booster.

We have installed many of these systems, and have made them wire free, i.e. installing the appropriate amount of translators at the fire alarm panel (32 devices per translator) and then if expanders are required to boost the signal then these are installed within the building.

One tip.... If doing this, always allow 1 metre between translators.... if installed side by side they will interfere with each other !!
