hi all
have been asked to take over maintenance of rafiki sita 200 plus system. have never worked on this system .customer has been told there is a software problem with this panel by the :) existing maint company.does any body know of this promblem with this panel and is the system stable customer not giving to much away about any problems they have had with system
-
I'd want to know why they hadn't solved the problem then I'd run for the nearest exit!!!
-
I agree with buzzard and why is the customer not being helpful, maybe they don't want to invoke costs.

Have to agree with the rest, find out the problem before starting. I service one of these panels and i have to say i dont like how it accepts tees and spurs???? I never noticed it before when do a service only on a call out where i had to replace a mcp and then restarted the loop and it said checking for tees and spurs. I thought the single cable going to mcp was in 4 core how wrong i was.
Apart from that no problems and if we did we would get a ralfiki engineer out for major probs. Best of luck!!! ;D

Recently come across a few of these and the panel needed a software upgrade (main chips changing) because of numerous software issues the manufacturer has, and still has. Had experiences where the panel would appear healthy, but in actual fact when a device is truggered nothing happens, as if the panel is asleep.
Would avoid these systems at all costs !!

I have not taken on a Rafiki system yet that has not had or got problems.
Before we agree to touch one of these I normally check they are happy to change the whole system, cus thats usually the best way of fixing the system and sometimes the only way to perminatly solve the problems.
These systems are often fitted by your general sparky who really has little knowledge of all the issues that go with them.

Place something conductive into the panel and slam the door to give good contact with internal pcb's , that will help you no end.

The old screwdriver trick always does the job ;D

Tip : make sure its someones' else's screwdriver ;D

Id not thought of that one, but maybe I will get a special screw driver!!

Swarf is your friend.....
Plastic panel you say.....
What monkey sparks fitted that metal clad spur above it....
Its amazing what you find behind control panel PCB's, even years after they were installed.
Only problem with Rafiki is you have to change all the field devices, there are some of the range that can have more devices per loop/zone so watch out for that.
From experience they look ok, its just they are prone to teething troubles and I havent had good experience of a trained service provider.
(we dont fancy going to Wales to get trained, would sooner not use their equipment)

R & D should be done at the factory , and not by us chaps out on site , a 4 yard skip is the answer imo. ::)
