Sorry - a very simple question which I need clarification of please.

I have a building, 3 storey + basement - 2 duplex flats - one with a direct exit to the rear basement area and ground level, one that is on the 1st & 2nd floors with a direct exit to fresh air via an external stair which is their sole use.

In relation to fire safety, is this Volume 1 or 2 of ADB? I have read the definition of a Flat in Appendix E therefore am leaning to Volume 2 due to the need for horizontal seperation - but can't seem to get firm clarification in either document.

Again apologies for the simplicity of the question - an early senior moment!! :-\

Yes - cos vol1 only applies to dwellinghouses. not flats.
