Could someone clarify the following for me from the standard for a Grade B system;
A fire detection and fire alarm system comprising fire detectors (other than smoke alarms
and heat alarms),
Is it just my age, what do they mean by fire detectors other than smoke and heat alarms, having been asked the question I cant think of the answer. Help!!!

Air sampling/analysing

They are referring to an alarm system as opposed to interconnected, self contained smoke/heat alarms. A system with control and indicating equipment (a control panel) that receives the fire signals centrally and relays it to the sounders, gives an indication and allow control of the system from the panel.

It is that indeed. They refer to smoke alarms and heat alarms as self containet units i.e. B & Q type equipment, as opposed to smoke detectors or heat detectors connecting to a main central control panel c/w battery backup, with Grade B you are more or less going down the route of a Part 1 system

Alaways good to look at the defintions in the standards, that would have given you the answer.
