Title: EMS fire system query

Can anyone enlighten me? If you perform a silence then reset on an ems panel with an a,b or c supply management fault will the fault clear immediately (albeit temporarily). Thanks in anticipation.

Thanks for that Graeme. What about an intermittent device signal fault can this be silenced and reset?

If the signal is "intermittent" check the obvious such as RSSI received and the background.

See what the detector is fixed to, metal ceiling or tiles/board with lots of ducting above etc... try double basing the device.

If you have the TSA program you could move the device around and watch the signal strength change in real time, otherwise move the device then remove/replace the head and you can read the signal strength on the panel.

Even turning the device so the LED is towards the VHF aerial can make a difference..!

You can get "weak" devices... also try swapping devices over for a device closer to the panel and see if the RSSI is the same for both ....

Just another check for the device... again where it's located.  Is it adjacent a light fitting? Or just above the ceiling (if a detector) are their any high voltage cabling?  These things can always cause intermittant faults with devices.
